Hogs Back Brewery Tour - Friday March 26

posted Mar 26, 2009 4:17 AM by Andy Webber   [ updated Jan 14, 2010 5:42 AM ]

An old favourite this one.  For those who have been before, this will need no explanation - as long as the memory impairment factor from last year has worn off!

HBB is based at Tongham (just off the A31) and the tour will commence at 6.30 p.m. sharp and will follow all aspects of the brewing process.  It is accompanied by regular samples of many of HBBs various ales including the famous T.E.A.

At the end of the trip, there is an opportunity to purchase a wide variety of HBB and other brewers products from the shop.  It is more than likely that the group will adjourn to a local pub to sample some other ales.

The cost of the tour will be £10 per head (payable to Andy in advance as we have to pay up front at the time of booking) which includes all the tasting beers.  I have booked 12 places at this stage but it may be possible to accommodate more if demand is there.

We can not stress too strongly that, if full enjoyment of this trip is to be achieved, it is essential that transport arrangements are made!

Fish & Chip Run - Date tbc May

posted Jan 20, 2009 6:46 AM by Andy Webber   [ updated Apr 27, 2010 1:51 AM ]

Our newly appointed Blatmeister (Guy Lowe) will be working out a route which will give us an interesting drive and end up at a quality fish and chip shop at a currently secret destination (cos we haven't decided where yet!)  If you want healthy eating - look away now!!  Even as we speak (late April) plans are becoming advanced for this run.  Keep an eye on this site and BlatChat for more details

RAF Museum, Hendon - date tbc June

Probably on a Saturday an organised blat to the RAF museum at Hendon http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/  Done already individually by some members, this is guaranteed to be a good trip.  Wives and children welcome

Weekend Blats

Our newly appointed Blatmeister (Guy Blatter Lowe) will be working out a number of blatting routes to get you out of the house during those summer weekends (a good excuse to get you away from the decorating/gardening)

These may well also incorporate some of the Goodwood Breakfast meetings  http://www.goodwood.co.uk/site/content/breakfastclub/News.aspx#8e9b000f-5ea8-43ff-ae75-8f164a8d4

Although there is a Goodwood Breakfast Meet on 2 May, there will be a blat to Stoneleigh for the kit car show.  There is a thread running on BlatChat

Summer BBQ

Assuming we manage to have a Summer in 2010 (this is being written under a blanket of snow) I aim to have a family BBQ.  Your AR will selflessly tour a number of pubs to find exactly the right place for this event.  We would really like to make this a family day and hope that you will encourage your WAGS and kids to come along

Elvetham Heath Car Show (Fleet) - Sunday July 18

posted Jan 19, 2009 8:57 AM by Andy Webber   [ updated Jan 13, 2010 8:43 AM ]

First undertaken in 2009, the Club had a good turn out of 10 cars (and an Elise!).  We have been allocated the same area as last year and will be able to squeeze between 10/15 cars in.

See http://www.elvethamheathcarshow.co.uk/  This is a good local show with a wide selection of cars, bikes and is well worth a visit.  If you are interested, please get in touch with Andy Webber

2010 will be the 4th annual sevening trip to IOW.  Whilst maybe not your obvious choice for a weekend away, this is a fun trip.  Price wise it is very reasonable and there is still plenty of time to register.  If past years are anything to go by, there will be a good showing of ReHaBers and WAGS in attendance

Stoneleigh Kit Car Show Sunday 2 May/Monday 3 May

posted Jan 19, 2009 8:12 AM by Andy Webber   [ updated Apr 27, 2010 1:55 AM ]

An annual show which attracts a lot of attention.  The Club always has a big attendance with upwards of 120 7s.  The local area organises a marquee and refreshments and you can spend the day browsing all the kit cars on display (and going away more than happy with the 7).  There is usually a blat up to Stoneleigh (near Warwick) which will not be organised until quite close to the time as the day chosen is influenced by the weather forecast!  There is a separate thread running on BlatChat.  We will be going on Sunday 2/5 and will be leaving bright and early at 7 a.m.!!!!!!!!!!!!

7s on Poole Quay - Friday 25 June

posted Jan 19, 2009 8:05 AM by Andy Webber   [ updated Apr 27, 2010 1:56 AM ]

In 2009, 7s were given their own evening on Poole Quay and there were well over 100 cars lining the quayside.  We aim to do better this year and date has been set as Friday 27 June
